The Yelm High School Performing Arts Booster Club provided Yelm Community Schools (YCS) and Yelm High School (YHS) with some good and generous news during a YCS Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22.

According to Erin Sabo, Treasurer of the YHS Performing Arts Booster Club, the booster club has had the unique privilege of partnering with YHS’s choir program and teacher Tim Henderson to “fill the financial gap left open” by the lack of levy support.

“For the second year in a row, we have been able to present a check to the board of $7,500 with the goal of covering Mr. Henderson’s after-school stipend to continue having choir concerts,” Sabo said. “Thanks to this partnership, students who attend YHS choir classes have seen no changes to their choir program over the course of the failed levies.”

Sabo added that after-school concerts presented by the YHS program provide vital opportunities for choir members to perform in front of their peers, family members, friends and community members.

She’s also been blown away by the support of the greater-Yelm community toward the YHS choir program in consecutive years, and by the choir members who’ve worked hard to grow their talents and share their gifts.

“Thank you for accepting this check, for partnering with us as we partner with you and for supporting the performing arts in and around Yelm,” Sabo said.
