Toledo’s Treyton Marty notched a lifetime best mark on Saturday to win the Harvest Classic cross country race in Longview.
Marty, a senior, covered the 5K course in 15:48 — nine seconds faster than the 15:57 he ran at a meet on Sept. 26.
Marty outpaced runner-up Brody Will, from Hudson’s Bay, by 18 seconds to claim victory. All four of his varsity teammates finished in the top 100: Darthaniel Neumann-Niles was 68th (21:33), Parker Hurtado was 81st (22:18), Isaac Parmantier was 83rd (22:23), and Ammon Meyer was 98th (23:30).
Morton-White Pass had three runners in the top 20 in Vanson Armstrong (17:14, sixth), Hunter Brackett (17:15, seventh) and Aiden Kampa (18:14, 18th). MWP finished fourth in the team standings with 124 points.
On the girls side, Toledo’s Lilly Cooper was 24th in 25:38 and Aubrey Cooper was 36th in 27:09. MWP’s Gemma Jakubowski was 34th in 27:02.
Macy Marshall, from St. Stephen’s Academy, won the girls race in 19:37.
Tumwater’s Alexandra Broome finished seventh in the varsity silver girls race on Saturday at the 28th annual John Payne Invite at University Place.
Broome, a sophomore, finished the 5k course in 20:26. Liberty’s Margaret Champlain won the silver race — which featured more than 230 runners and was open to runners with an average over 22:30 in their five best races — in 19:13.
Tenino’s Brynn Williams was 25th (21:22) in the same race. Tumwater’s Raegan Smith was 35th in 21:58.
Tumwater’s Zane McAferty was 24th in the varsity silver boys race, open to runners with a top-five average over 18 minutes and featuring over 300 competitors. McAferty finished in 17:29, with teammate Josh Morgan in 28th at 17:39.
Tenino’s Tristan Von Bargen was 32nd in 17:44.
Rochester’s Gunnar Morgan ran in the varsity gold boys race — open to runners with a sub-18:00 average — and finished 73rd in 16:51.
Rainier’s girls cross country team finished fifth in the 1B-2A team competition Saturday at the 17th annual Nike Twilight Invite at Cedarcrest Golf Course.
Madison Ingram led the way, finishing 18th in 19:40. Teammate Komaire Robles was 28th in 20:00, Jazzllyn Shumate was 34th in 20:12, Alexis Myers was 66th in 21:46 and Kinsley Barrow was 79th in 22:02.
Zach Hamilton was the top local finisher on the boys side, taking 78th in 17:35.
