•The City of Rainier Arts Commision and the We Love Rainier Team presents the Life in Rainier Contests. Participants can enter an essay, poem or piece of art until Feb. 28 to be considered. •Chair Yoga for Relaxation is held at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Yelm Timberland Library. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Come relax as Helen leads us through calming stretches and balance.

•The Triad Arts Theater presents its Valentine’s show called Crooners & Spooners encore performance at 8 p.m. at the theater. Hosted by the Hysterical Kellie Petersen, you can expect an evening full of Entertainment, Laughs and Songs of LOVE.  Champagne, mixed & specialty drinks, wine & beer available for purchase. •Mat Yoga is held 10:30  a.m. on Saturdays at the Yelm Timberland Library. Wear comfortable clothing, bring your mat and be ready to stretch in this floor yoga program.

•Yelm Library Timberland Library presents the second annual Multicultural New Year Celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m..Join the festivities for Year of the Pig and enjoy dancing, performance art, food samples, arts and crafts, costumes and many more booths and surprises.

•Restorative Yoga is held at noon on Saturdays at the Yelm Timberland Library. Restorative Yoga involves holding a reclining or sitting pose for 5 to 10 minutes to allow deep relaxation. Props are used to support the body. For example, a folded blanket or bolster on the legs will support the torso in a seated forward fold. Each participant needs to bring a mat, a yoga block, and a blanket. Additional blocks, blanket and bolsters will allow for deeper relaxation, but are not essential.

•Rainier Senior Center 2019 Rummage Sale will run March 1-2.  The Senior Center will have the front room for items. There will be vendors with their garage sale items in the dining room. •Yelm Dollars for Scholars will hold its auction at 4 p.m. in the Yelm High School commons and Performing Arts Center. This annual auction to raise funds to provide scholarships to Yelm High School graduating seniors. There will be pizza, snacks and refreshments for purchase, a silent auction, raffle, fun and live auction.

 

Tuesday, March 5

•Friends of Yelm Library will hold its monthly book/dvd/cd sale at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Yelm Library. The feature this month is home improvement. Proceeds support library programs. Sponsored by Friends of Yelm Library volunteers, who also welcome visitors to its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the library.

•Yelm Timberland Library presents Reiki Circle, noon to 1 p.m., for adults. Reiki is a form of healing using gentle touch to channel Source Energy. Receive a 5 to 10 minute session of Palm Reiki to activate the natural healing processes and restore physical and emotional well-being. Other Reiki Practitioners welcome to attend. All participants are encouraged to lend their energies to the healing process.
