We Love Rainier WA is selling handpicked Fuji apples to help support events in the community. People can purchase 40 pounds of apples for $45. To place your order, call George at 360-292-5363.

Food Bank

The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22. Clients cannot enter the building and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.

Prairie Point Quilters Guild Meeting

The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Saturday, Sept. 24

Yelm Farmers Market

The Yelm Farmers Market summer series continues on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Yelm Community Park. The market opens at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 3 p.m.

Nisqually Watershed Festival

The Nisqually Watershed Festival returns in-person for the first time in two years at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, Sept. 24. The event has numerous activities planned throughout the day to honor and teach people about the importance of the Nisqually watershed. The event is free to the public. It begins at 10 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m.

Taco Night at American Legion Post 164

American Legion Post 164 in Yelm will host a taco night on Friday, Sept. 30 beginning at 5 p.m. They will provide nachos and tacos for those in attendance. The American Legion is “a place for active duty, veterans and their families to gather and support each other,” according to the organization’s Facebook page. The post is located at 16733 103rd Ave. SE in Yelm.

Saturday, Oct. 1

Yelm Amateur Radio Group

The Yelm Amateur Radio Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. The group is a nonprofit organization that provides testing for licensing related to radio, as well as an interest in amateur radio. The group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 Third St. SE, in Yelm.

Harvest Fest

The Lacamas Community Center will host  its Harvest Fest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. There will be over 30 local vendors and small business owners at the event. Booths include different crafts, produce, jams, jewelry, homemade items and more. Breakfast will be offered from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the community center, with lunch to follow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Harvest Anniversary Celebration

BeJoyful Holistics will host a Harvest Anniversary Celebration from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8. There will be a variety of vendors as the business celebrates one-year of operation. BeJoyful Holistics is located at 512 W. Yelm Ave. 

Saturday, Oct. 29

Trunk or Treat

Moore Designs will host a trunk or treat event at Yelm Cinemas from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. There are over 90 parking spots on the asphalt and a field that’s available for use. Awards will be given for best in show, best costume, best theme, and kids choice award. Dash plaques will be given to all participants who bring a vehicle to decorate. Giveaways will include an autographed photo from Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in Addams Family, and an autographed photo from Joseph Quinn, who played Eddie Munson in Stranger Things. The event is free to attend.
