Prairie Point Quilters Guild Meeting

The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Family Storytime

Join the Yelm Timberland Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Thursday for family storytime. The event includes music, movement, books and activities for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. The library is located at 210 Prairie Park St. NE in Yelm.

Food Bank

The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 22. Clients cannot enter the building and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.

Rainier Elementary Registration

The registration period for kindergartners for the 2023-24 school year at Rainier Elementary School is open. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2023. Parents and guardians can pre-register their future kindergartner online at www.rainier.wednet.edu/domain/60. Click on the registration link to fill in the form. Staff from the school’s office will contact parents to confirm interest in their elementary program and will review the registration process and paperwork. Prairie Days Street Dance

Join the City of Yelm Parks and Recreation department on Friday, June 23, for the Prairie Days Street Dance event. The dance will begin at 6 p.m. and will be located at Yelm City Park. There will be a beer garden, food trucks and a live band in attendance.

Saturday, June 24

Tenino Farmers Market

The Tenino Farmers Market is set for Saturday, June 24. The event is located in Tenino’s downtown historic district on Olympia Street South. Different items like flowers, baskets, vegetable starts, baked goods, farm-fresh produce, USDA meats and more will be available at the farmers market. The market takes place every Saturday through Sept. 30. The market has the following theme days scheduled: July 8 will be the city’s 150th Jubilee celebration, July 22 will celebrate Oregon Trail Days, Aug. 5 will honor National Farmers Market Week, Aug. 19 will be garlic day, and Sept. 30 will conclude the season during pumpkin day.

Yelm Farmers Market

The Yelm Farmers Market will take place Saturday, June 24. The market will be held at a new location in front of the Yelm Police Station, which is on McKenzie Street. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Saturday until Sept. 30.



Prairie Days Parade

Yelm’s annual Prairie Days Parade is set for 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 24,  on Yelm Avenue. Event organizers welcome everyone to line the streets to enjoy the parade and collect candy.

Prairie Days Touch-A-Truck

Following the Prairie Days Parade on Saturday, June 24, there will be a “Touch-a-Truck” event for children at Yelm City Park. Children, accompanied by an adult, are welcome to climb in, run around, sit inside and honk the horns of trucks and other vehicles. There will be a special non-honking time slot from 1 to 2 p.m. for sensory-sensitive children.

Prairie Days Kids Fun-Fest

Prairie Days Kids Fun-Fest will be located at Yelm City Park following the morning’s parade on Saturday, June 24. The fun fest will feature games and activities for children of all ages. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Yelm Community Choir Concert

Join the Yelm Community Choir for a concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. The concert is located at the Emanuel Lutheran Church at 206 Third St., a block away from the Prairie Days celebrations. The concert is free to attend. It will feature religious and secular music from Bach to Pentatonix.

Sunday, June 25

Charity Mushball Tournament

The City of Yelm Parks and Recreation department will host the second annual charity Mushball tournament. The ceremonial first pitch will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 25 at Longmire Field. Mushball is similar to baseball, but features a larger ball and slower pitches. Those interested in registering a team can sign up on the City of Yelm’s website at www.ci.yelm.wa.us.

Sunday, July 2

Bigelow House Museum Tour

The Bigelow House Museum will provide regular escorted tours on the first and second Sunday of the month at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Entrance fees are $5 per adult, $4 for seniors and students, and $2 for children. The museum is located at 918 Glass Ave. NE in Olympia.

Friday, Aug. 4

Jazz in the Park

The sixth annual Jazz in the Park event will return to Yelm City Park at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, and will also take place on Saturday, Aug. 5. Event organizers welcome attendees to join them for the event, which includes free admission, a beer and wine garden, and live jazz bands.
