Death investigation near Safeway

Yelm police officers responded to a call at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16 near Safeway in Yelm after they received reports of a deceased individual.  The reporting party was able to identify the deceased male. According to police reports, the man was observed to have lividity setting in throughout “most of his body” and had lacerations on his heel.

Police officers also found pens and lighters near the male, along with tin foil with unknown residue on it 10 feet away from his body.

Yelm Laundry Center mysteriously burglarized

Yelm police officers responded to a call at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 at the Yelm Laundry Center after a burglary was reported.

Upon arrival, police officers immediately noticed both the front and back door were secured with no signs of forced entry and saw two broken ceiling tiles with pieces scattered on the floor.

Yelm police also noted that the southeast corner of the business’s ceiling was “demolished” and spotted a cash register on the ground and broken.

Surveillance showed the suspect unplug the register and throw it on the floor, but police officers remained unsure how the suspect entered the building. There are no further leads at this time.

Employee caught stealing at Yelm’s Pizzeria La Gitana

Yelm police officers responded to a report of an employee stealing money from a cash register at 6:15 p.m., Aug. 16 at Yelm’s Pizzeria La Gitana.

According to the police report, the business has been experiencing theft since January, which led to management setting up cameras inside the restaurant.

An employee was observed stealing at least $1,212 from the business’s cash register on four separate dates.

The suspect stole $281 out of the cash register on Aug. 8, $352 from the register on Aug. 9, $161 from the register on Aug. 11, and $418 from the register on Aug. 13.

The suspect was also in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest and was booked into Thurston County Jail on charges of second-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance.

The suspect was also trespassed from all Pizzeria La Gitana locations.
