The Yelm girls basketball team went 1-1 during last weekend’s State Farm Holiday Classic in Olympia. The Tornados dominated Puyallup with a 82-48 win on Friday but lost to Olympia on Saturday, 57-46. 

Maddie Plevyak finished against Puyallup with 33 points on 22 attempts. The Yelm senior ultimately went 5-for-10 on 3-point attempts. 

Senior Grace Cebula and junior Bayleigh Harder also held strong for Yelm, scoring 15 and 14 points, respectively. 

Plevyak and Harder had four and three steals, respectively. Junior My’Kel Jones led Yelm in assists with a total five. 

The Tornados outscored Puyallup in all but the final quarter, 28-6, 21-18, 25-10, 14-8. 

Yelm was unable to find the win Saturday against Olympia, but held strong against the 4A team. 

Harder led Yelm in scoring with a total of 12 points, while Plevyak rounded out 10 points. 

Yelm senior Imani Tustison had three steals for Yelm.
