As the weather heats up, the city of Yelm has opened up the Public Safety Building during regular hours of operation for the public to use as a cool down location.
The public safety building is located at 206 McKenzie Ave. and will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. This location will offer visitors an air-conditioned refuge from the blistering heat.
“Many people in our area don’t have air conditioned homes, but Yelm has two places where people, especially our vulnerable citizens, can cool down and hydrate,” wrote city of Yelm Communications Specialist Andrew Kollar in a text message.
