A 19-year-old Tacoma man was hospitalized after being struck by a school bus on State Route 161 near Graham on Wednesday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Isaiah L. Haskins was crossing the road in front of stopped traffic at about 5:30 p.m. when he was struck by the bus, a 2015 Bluebird driven by 55-year-old Terri L. Swan, of Puyallup. There were three passengers on the bus — two 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old — but none of them were injured.
Haskins had crossed three lanes of stopped traffic near 187th Street East but apparently did not realize traffic was still moving in the fourth lane.
He was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, according to the state patrol, which noted in a press release it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor.
