Engine 84 is currently out of commission due to an accident with a grey pickup truck. Department staff are encouraging people with additional information on the driver to contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

One of South Pierce Fire and Rescue’s fire engines is out of commission following a minor collision with a pickup truck in Eatonville during the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 31. No injuries were reported, according to a Facebook post by South Pierce.

Staff of the fire department say anyone with additional information regarding this incident should contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the pickup truck is to blame for the collision, staff say.

E84, the fire engine in question, was out on a call responding to a motor vehicle accident when, at about 2 a.m., the engine was side swiped by an oncoming pickup truck on State Route 161 around the Ski Park Road area, according to the agency’s post.

The vehicle reportedly did not stop following the collision and kept on driving. The vehicle is described as a grey 1980s pickup truck.

E84 is currently out of commission due to the damages, the department reported.
