The Yelm High School class of 1980 gathered at Mr. Doug’s Restaurant in Yelm on Sept. 30, for its 40-year class reunion. The celebration had been delayed for three years because of the pandemic. According to reunion coordinator Dana Couthran-Hanson, the event was successful, with 33 classmates and eight faculty in attendance. The evening was filled with reminiscing, awards, door prizes, dinner, drinks and laughter.  The classmate who traveled the furthest was Mark Baldwin who came from Colorado. There were numerous awards presented, including to Robert Jackson, Mark Baldwin and Gary Kreitel for serving the country in the military. A memory board included photos to honor the 20 classmates who have passed away. Couthran-Hanson thanked Ashley Boldt and Tracey and Dennise Wood of Mr. Doug’s for their hospitality.
