The officer’s car came to rest on the right shoulder. Franich’s car came to rest in the westbound lane of state Route 510 Alternate.
The roadway was blocked for two hours and 38 minutes.
The officer and his passenger were both transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia for medical treatment.
The officer was reportedly not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the Washington State Patrol. His passenger and Franich were both reportedly wearing their seat belts.
Franich was treated for injuries at the scene but was not transported to the hospital.
The Washington State Patrol has confirmed that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, and determined the cause of the crash was failure to yield.
