The Yelm volleyball team ran into a powerful Toledo Riverhawks team and lost at home 3-1 (20-25, 25-14, 14-25, 19-25) Monday night.

Yelm put forth its best set of the young season in the second set, rolling to a 25-14 win. Anna Lee contributed eight kills and 25 digs, while Lexi Stone added eight kills. Rylee Hominda tallied 18 assists and five aces.

“Overall, we had some great moments in which we played to our true potential, but Toledo played great, as well,” Yelm head coach Bailey Whalen said. “Our defense is getting stronger, and our offense is too. Playing these strong teams in the preseason is going to pay off in the long run. We never roll over and let the other team take a W. However, now we just have to finish a match in the strong way that I know that we can.”

Yelm (0-3) will host Emerald Ridge in the South Puget Sound League opener Monday, Sept. 21.
