Woman Charged With Vehicular Homicide Following Fatal Crash in Roy

A 48-year-old woman was ejected from a vehicle involved in a single car collision in Roy and declared dead at the scene on Saturday.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department stated witnesses called in the accident at 12:19 a.m. on Nov. 26 in the 1200 block of 304th St. E. 

Deputies responded to the call with South Pierce and Graham Fire. First responders extricated the driver to the vehicle and transported the woman to the hospital, stated a news release.

Traffic deputies who completed the initial investigation determined speed and impairment were factors in the collision, stated the release.



The vehicle was traveling westbound on 304th St. E. when it went off the roadway and struck two trees before it came to a rest in a ditch on the north side of the roadway.

The 43-year-old woman who was the driver had been arrested for vehicular homicide. The woman, who was not identified in the release, will be transported to the Pierce County Jail when she is released from the hospital. 

The investigation is ongoing.
