City of Yelm trick-or-treat
Several City of Yelm buildings will be on their spookiest behavior from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, as Yelm City Hall, 106 Second St. SE, Yelm Public Safety building, 206 McKenzie Ave., and Yelm Public Services, 901 Rhoton Road, will all celebrate Halloween by handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.
Nisqually Markets “Spooktacular Trunk or Treat”
Nisqually Markets, 12820 Yelm Highway SE, Olympia, will host its free and family-friendly “Spooktacular Trunk or Treat” event from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, for the local community. Kids of all ages are invited to attend the event dressed up in their Halloween costumes and to visit a plethora of booths and vehicles displaying their Halloween spirit.
Rainier (Washington) football hosts Rainier (Oregon)
It will be a battle of the Rainiers on Thursday, Oct. 31, as Rainier (Washington, 5-3) will host Rainier (Oregon, 1-7) at 7 p.m. on Halloween in Rainier. Tickets for the contest can be purchased at the gate prior to the kickoff.
Saturday, Nov. 2
Shiplap Shop annual Christmas event
Yelm’s Shiplap Shop and Coffee House, 112 Yelm Ave. E., will host its “Shiplap Shop annual Christmas event,” beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The event invites residents to kick off the Christmas season with toasted marshmallows, hot coffee and the opportunity to take a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Fall into the Holidays Annual Bazaar
Yelm Emanuel Lutheran Church is hosting its Fall into the Holidays Annual Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the church, 206 Third Ave., Yelm.
Monday, Nov. 11
Blue Star Marker ceremony
Join the City of Yelm and Tim’s Pharmacy at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, in honoring the local military community by unveiling a Blue Star Marker plaque and dedication in Yelm at the corner of Highway 510 and Highway 507. The Blue Star Marker tradition began in 1944 following the end of World War II to honor service members throughout the country.
Saturday, Nov. 23
“Jonny Boy Strong” silent auction and dinner
Join 5-year-old Jonny Jennerjahn and his family from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Yelm Senior Center for a silent auction and dinner in efforts to fundraise for the child’s battle with DIPG — a form of brain cancer. Doors for the event will open at 2 p.m., followed by dinner at 2:30 p.m. Bidding on items will begin after the doors open, and the auction itself will conclude at 5 p.m. Donations of items and money are both being accepted.
