Family Storytime

Join the Yelm Timberland Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Thursday for family storytime. The event includes music, movement, books and activities for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. The library is at 210 Prairie Park St. NE in Yelm.

Peninsula High School at Yelm Girls Soccer

The Peninsula Seahawks, 5-2-1, are set to travel to Yelm for a South Sound Conference matchup against the Tornados, 1-6-2, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 at the Yelm High School stadium.

Pigman’s Pumpkin Patch

Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, Pigman’s Pumpkin Patch, located at 10633 Steilacoom Road SE, is open until Oct. 31. The 6-acre farm grows vegetables and berries and allows participants to utilize its pumpkin patch.

Rutledge Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Rutledge Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, located at 302 93rd Ave. SE, has a plethora of fall activities slated including its pumpkin patch, Fall on the Farm event and Haunted Corn Maze.

Schilter Family Farm Pumpkin Patch

Open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and weekdays (except Tuesdays), Schilter Family Farm Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze invites the public to participate in over 15 different activities on the farm.

Friday, Oct. 6

Hunter Family Farm Pumpkin Patch and Festival

Open on Fridays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Hunter Family Farm Pumpkin Patch and Festival, located at 7401 Yelm Highway SE, invites residents out to enjoy various fall activities on the farm. The farm will be open until an announcement of closure.

Saturday, Oct. 7

Yelm Football at Capital Cougars

The Yelm Tornados football team, 5-0, is set to travel to Olympia on Saturday, Oct. 7 to face off against South Sound Conference opponent Capital High School, 3-2. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Ingersoll Stadium.

Sunday, Oct. 8

Bigelow House Museum Tour

The Bigelow House Museum offers regular escorted tours on the first and second Sunday of the month at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Entrance fees are $5 per adult, $4 for seniors and students, and $2 for children. The museum is located at 918 Glass Ave. NE in Olympia.

12th annual Crossroads Church Pumpkin Patch

Beginning on Oct. 8, the Yelm Crossroads Church will open its pumpkin patch, which will remain open until Oct. 31. The pumpkin patch allows for the church to raise funds for Yelm Dollars for Scholars and the Rainier Education Foundation. Hours for the pumpkin patch are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays, and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.

Thursday, Oct. 12

Gig Harbor Tides at Yelm Volleyball

The Gig Harbor Tides are set to travel to Yelm for the Tornados’ next upcoming home game. The contest is set for 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 inside Yelm High School’s gymnasium.

Saturday, Oct. 14

Fall into the Holidays Bazaar

Emanuel Lutheran Church is set to host its “Fall into the Holidays” Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the church, located at 206 Third St. SE in Yelm.

Fall on the Farm

Celebrate the grand opening of the Silo Shop with Wanderlust Cupcake Co. in its “Fall on the Farm” event. Join Wanderlust Cupcake Co. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Wanderlust Cupcake Co, 4800 Skookumchuck Road SE in Tenino.



2023 Mayor’s Cup Mario Kart Tournament

The City of Yelm is hosting the 2023 Mayor’s Cup Mario Kart 8 tournament beginning at 12 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the Yelm Community Center. Participants can register for the event at https://lf.yelmwa.gov/Forms/MayorsCup, and registration costs $20.

Spooky Cookies Decorating Workshop

The City of Yelm’s Parks and Recreations Department will host its Spooky Cookies Decorating workshop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m Oct. 17 at the Yelm Community Center, 301 Second St. SE. The class is for beginners or those who are curious about what decorating cookies is all about. College, Career, Apprenticeship, Resources and Education Options event

The Yelm School District is hosting a Career, Apprenticeship, Resources and Education Options event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Yelm High School. It is an opportunity for people to ask key questions and help students and adults of all ages seeking personal paths in education, training  and employment. Everyone is welcome.

Thursday, Oct. 26

Spooky Trail at Cochrane Park

The City of Yelm’s Parks and Recreation Department will host a “Spooky Trail” at Cochrane Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 750 Mill Road SE. The park will transform into the “spookiest park in Yelm” for the event, and families are invited to walk the trail and see “spooky” elements added throughout the trail. Admission to the family-friendly event is free.

“Yell Manor” Haunted House and Escape Rooms

Yell Manor Haunted House is set to host six nights of frights from Oct. 26 to Oct. 31 at Gordon’s Garden Center, located at 308 E. Yelm Ave. Tickets and details for the event can be found at srotheater.org.

We Love Rainier “Halloween Trunk-or-Treat”

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., join “We Love Rainier” on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Wilkowski Park in Rainier for the organization’s “Halloween Trunk-or-Treat” event. The organization invites residents to attend the park for an afternoon of games and activities for all ages, food vendors, a “spook-tacular” dance, trunk-or-treat stations featuring candy and surprises and much more. Participants can dress up in their favorite costumes for an afternoon of family-friendly fun.

American Legion “Trunk-or-Treat”

Yelm’s American Legion Post No. 164 will host its third annual “Trunk-or-Treat” event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the post, which is located at 16733 103rd Ave. S. According to the group’s Facebook page, the American Legion implemented a nationwide Halloween safety program for young trick-or-treaters in 1972.

Veterans Day Celebration and Concert

To celebrate Veterans Day, the City of Yelm’s Parks and Recreation department is hosting a Veterans Day celebration and concert at the Yelm City Park. The event will begin at noon on Saturday, Nov. 11. More details regarding the event will be released in the near future.

City of Yelm Charity “Turkey Bowl”

Set for 9 a.m. on Nov. 18 at Longmire Park, the City of Yelm is set to host a charity Turkey Bowl. Those interested in bringing a team to the charity sporting event can register at https://lf.yelmwa.gov/Forms/FlagFootballApp to save their spot in the event.
