Two drivers were transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital with serious injuries following a head-on collision on state Route 507 in Thurston County on Tuesday.

The at-fault driver, identified by the Washington State Patrol (WSP) as Kara K. Burmaz, 24, of Graham, is facing possible DUI and vehicular assault charges.

WSP was notified of the crash at approximately 6:14 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Burmaz was reportedly driving a white 1998 Toyota Camry southbound in the northbound lanes of state Route 507 when, at milepost 26, she struck a northbound red 1995 Ford Mustang head-on.

The Toyota came to rest in a ditch off the southbound side of state Route 507.

The Ford, driven by David R. Bush, 57, of Spanaway, came to rest blocking the southbound lane.

The roadway was blocked for five hours and four minutes, according to WSP.

Both drivers were injured. Burmaz was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.

WSP has determined the cause of the crash to be unsafe passing and DUI, according to an incident report.
