Trio of Beavers Qualify for State Meet

Taking a stroll through Lewis River’s cross country course near Woodland while the sun was still out, the Tenino boys and girls’ teams earned three state qualifiers at the 1A District 4 Cross Country Championships Wednesday morning. 

The top 21 runners advance to the state meet next week in Pasco.

For the girls, Haley Huber was Tenino’s top finisher, running the 5,000-meter course in 21:51 to finish ninth overall. Brynn Williams wasn’t far behind, finishing 11th in 22:24 for the Beavers. 



On the boys side, Tristan Von Bargen was the lone Beaver to qualify for the state meet, finishing 17th at 17:54. 

Seton Catholic earned a sweep of the invidival district titles, with Sam Soto winning for the boys in 16:49 and Alexis Leone winning for the girls in 17:52. Columbia (White Salmon) was the girls team champion and Seton Catholic took home the boys team title. 

The 1A State Cross Country Championships take place next Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
