An algae advisory for Lake Lawrence has been downgraded to a warning following an algae sample taken by Thurston County health staff on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Pattison Lake’s algae advisory was completely lifted, as well.
Lab results found that microcystins in Lake Lawrence were at 25.0 micrograms per liter, below the state danger guidelines but above the state recreational guidelines. This was the second consecutive sample with results below the danger levels following an algal bloom with toxin levels above 2,000 micrograms per liter. Signs posted by Thurston County staff will be changed to reflect this as soon as staff are able. Staff will collect one sample per week until toxin levels are below regulatory guidelines for two consecutive weeks.
Microcystin levels in Pattison Lake were 3.3 micrograms per liter in an algae sample taken on Tuesday, Nov. 5, which is below the state recreational guideline of 8.0 micrograms per liter. Signs posted by Thurston County staff will be removed as soon as staff are able.
