Thanks to the Many People Who Made Community Christmas Concert a Success

Editor,

The 21st Annual Community Christmas Concert was a beautiful evening filled with Christmas spirit and music celebrating our Savior’s birth. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who participated and helped with this event.

There are numerous people behind the scenes who generously gave their service and help to make the evening a success. It would not be possible without them and I thank them for all their time and efforts.

Prelude music was performed by John O’Dell and Raffinata. JW Foster opened the evening with his welcome address. Dan Houser from the Seventh Day Adventist Church gave an inspired opening prayer and Charlotte Clary from New Life Christian Center eloquently delivered the Reading of the Birth of Jesus Christ. The concert flowed from there with beautiful music by Emanuel Lutheran Church, United Methodist, Yelm Community Choir and Yelm Symphony ensemble, First Presbyterian, Seventh Day Adventist, First Methodist, St. Columban Catholic, Christ the King, Roman Catholic, Eagle View Christian, Raffinata Instrumental Group and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mary Rivera was the chorister for the evening with Ann Kahler on the organ.

The VFW Post 5580 presented the colors during the Military Tribute. They were introduced by Yana Lincoln from Rainer Chapel and Grant Dress performed “God Bless America.” Tim Henderson, Yelm High School choral director, performed a beautiful piece, “Ave Maria,” and Mary Rivera, Yelm Middle School choral director, and Isabelle Cloran closed the evening with “Silent Night.” state Rep. JT Wilcox, R-Yelm, gave closing remarks and the closing prayer was given by Deborah Baker from Crossroads Community Covenant Church.

I’m proud to live in a community filled with individuals that are willing to be of service when asked and share their talents. It was fulfilling and wonderful to experience the evening with so many different faiths and community members coming together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. May we all continue to work together to keep the celebration of Christmas a tradition in our community.
