Local law enforcement located and arrested a suspect in a shooting incident in the 11600 block of Morris Road Southeast just outside of Yelm March 5, which claimed the life of a Yelm man.

Detectives, in collaboration with the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force, Department of Corrections, Thurston County SWAT and Pierce County SWAT team, executed a search warrant at a residence within Yelm city limits on Thursday, March 28. During the execution of the warrant, the suspect was located, arrested and later booked into jail on charges of murder in the second degree, according to a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) news release.

According to the release, detectives conducted numerous interviews, pursued leads, reviewed surveillance footage and examined the crime scene evidence.

Law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 6:30 p.m. on March 5. Yelm Police Department officers, along with TCSO deputies and fire department crews, swiftly arrived at the location and initiated life-saving measures, but 31-year-old Trever Miller did not survive. Detectives were searching for a light blue Honda Civic with gold rims to lead them to the suspect.
