The Washington state Department of Health (DOH) has revoked or suspended the licenses, certifications or registrations of 11 health care providers, according to a news release from the department dated Sept. 12.

One of those providers was located in Lewis County. Another was located in Thurston County.

In July, the DOH suspended Betty Jo Kitchen’s registered nursing assistant credential for at least five years, according to the release. Kitchen was operating in Lewis County.

“In May 2024, Kitchen admitted to diverting medication from a patient,” the release stated. “In October 2024, she was placed on the Department of Social and Health Services’ long-term care abuse and neglect registry after abusing a vulnerable adult and failing to follow prescribed medication orders for another. Placement on the registry prohibits her from working with or having unsupervised access to vulnerable adults.”

The release stated that Kitchen did not respond to the department’s requests for information.

In August, the DOH suspended Cameron Bernice Capps’s agency-affiliated counselor credential for at least five years. Capps was operating in Thurston County.

“Capps worked as a counselor at a juvenile rehabilitation center, where in May 2023 it was reported she allegedly solicited and engaged in a romantic relationship with a patient,” the release stated. “In November 2024, the patient confirmed the relationship.”

Capps also failed to respond to the department’s request for information, according to the release.

The department stated that its Health Systems Quality Assurance Division works with boards, commissions and advisory committees to set licensing standards for more than 80 health care professions. According to the release, information about disciplinary action taken against medical doctors and physician assistants can be found on the Washington Medical Commission (WMC) website at https://wmc.wa.gov.
