SPSCC Awarded Gold Recognition in Best of South Sound

South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) was recently awarded “gold” in the community college category in the Best of South Sound contest.

The Best of South Sound allows community members to vote for various categories that include the best local restaurants, business and more.

“This recognition is evidence of the dedicated faculty and staff at SPSCC and their steadfast dedication to student success,” said Timothy Stokes, the president of SPSCC. “While our mission is focused on providing workforce and transfer education, our mission is really about our community and it is great to receive this recognition from our community.”

A news release stated SPSCC combines small class sizes, faculty and staff, and modern facilities to complete its mission of amplifying student success.

The college serves more than 6,000 students, which includes degree-seeking students, high schoolers, veterans, international students and underemployed workers.

“We see thousands of students each year land a new job, learn a new skill, earn a degree, and pursue exciting opportunities from our campuses in Olympia and Lacey and classes in Yelm and online,” stated the release. “Our core themes of student achievement, equity, and learning and engagement are the heart of the work completed by our departments and faculty.”
