Shopper Caught Stealing Underwear at Walmart

Yelm police officers responded to a report of a shoplifter at Yelm’s Walmart at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Upon arrival, police officers learned the suspect entered the store and stole an undisclosed amount of underwear.

On her way out, the suspect paid for a soda and a lighter, according to a police report.

Once police officers identified the woman, she confessed to stealing $63 worth of underwear.

Roughly 15 pairs of underwear were located following the incident.

The woman was previously trespassed from Walmart in 2018.

Woman Charged With Assault

Yelm police officers responded to a call concerning an assault that occurred at a residence on Canal Court Southeast on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 29.

Upon arrival, police officers were informed the reporting party was assaulted by her ex-girlfriend, who held a knife to her neck.

The reporting party was cut during the incident and was later treated at Southeast Thurston Fire.

Police officers charged the reporting party’s ex-girlfriend with fourth-degree assault.



Auto Theft Reported at Yelm Cinemas

Yelm police officers responded to a call at around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 after a man reported his vehicle was stolen while he was watching a movie at Yelm Cinemas.

Upon arrival, police officers learned the stolen car was a black 1997 Honda Accord, with several stickers displayed in various locations on the car.

The reporting party said he was inside the movie theater from 7 to 9:20 p.m.

There are no further leads at this time.

Vehicle Prowl Reported at Vancil Loop Southeast

Yelm police officers responded to a complaint of a vehicle prowl near Vancil Loop Southeast at around 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26.

Upon arrival, the reporting party told police officers her purse was stolen out of her car overnight. She stated she “must’ve left it unlocked overnight,” according to police reports.

There were no clear signs of forced entry to the vehicle.

She had several credit and debit cards in her purse, as well as her social security information.

The reporting party was alerted of fraud activity on her credit cards, amounting to over $11,000 in charges.

The charges were located at several different locations in the greater-Yelm area, including a Shell station on Yelm Highway and several grocery stores in Lacey and Olympia.
