Effective July 1, Shellica Trevino was appointed CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Thurston County. She has over 20 years of experience with Boys and Girls Club.

Trevino has managed day-to-day operations for the Boys and Girls Club Thurston County since 2015 and was promoted to chief operating officer in 2021. She’s also served twice as interim CEO during her tenure.

“The positive impact we get to make in the community wouldn’t be possible without these groups of people,” Trevino said in a media release. “Inspiring and enabling youth to realize their greatness requires a daily commitment from all of us. We can do amazing things when we consider what is best for club members. This new role gives me the chance.”

Since her involvement with the Boys and Girls Club began in 2000, Trevino has guided, mentored and supported the organization. She originally began at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater San Diego as a front desk clerk. After moving to the Olympia-area in 2003, she assumed various positions within Thurston County clubs.

These roles included program staff, front desk coordinator, membership manager and branch director of the Lacey Club, which she held for nine years.

Trevino was promoted to the director of operations role in 2015 and managed operations of four Boys and Girls Club locations. She’s also been involved in opening four additional club locations in the last several years.

“Shellica’s professional development over the course of her career stems from her drive to help kids,” BGCTC Board President Kirsten Conklin said in a media release. “Her experience has touched every aspect of this organization for over 18 years. She inspires staff and board members to perform at their highest level and fosters the idea of leadership by example.”

Trevino received multiple recognitions for her work with the Boys and Girls clubs, including the 2013 Maytag Dependable Leader Award, as well as the 2013 Champion for Kids Award. In 2019, Trevino also received the Cool Jazz Clean Water Service Above Self award.

According to the release, she is committed to the Thurston County community and has assumed different board positions for the Lacey Rotary Club, including Lacey Rotary Club president during the 2019-20 year. She’s also the current Lacey Rotary treasurer.
