With the holiday season behind us, there are several drop off locations for Christmas trees locally throughout the greater Nisqually Valley area.

Trees taken to sites in Thurston County should be free of any ornaments, lights, stands, nails, or any other items. Flocked trees are also accepted at the locations.

Yelm residents can place their Christmas trees in a designated dumpster, located at 124 Third St. SE. Christmas trees can be dumped anytime through Jan. 15.

Rainier residents can take their Christmas trees to the Rainier Drop-Box Facility, which is located at 13010 Rainier Acres Road SE. The facility accepts Christmas trees from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Jan. 15.

In Tenino, residents can take their Christmas trees to 418 Wichman St. S. for disposal through Jan. 15.

Rochester residents can take their Christmas trees to the Rochester Drop-Box facility, located at 16500 Sargent Road SW. Trees can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays through Jan. 15.

Thurston County residents can also drop off their trees at the Waste and Recovery Center at 2420 Hogum Bay Road NE in Lacey. The center accepts trees from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Jan. 15.

Customers who have other items they need to dispose  of alongside their tree should expect to make two trips across the scale, according to Thurston County Public Works.

LeMay food and yard waste customers can also place their tree in or near their waste cart. Extra fees apply for customers who aren’t signed up for food and yard waste collection.
