Roy council to vote on adding new member in March

Posted

After the departure of Councilor Rachel Chavez last month, the Roy City Council is searching for someone to fill position No. 1.

During its Monday, Feb. 13, meeting, councilors interviewed Roy resident Edmund Dunn as a possible replacement.

Ultimately, the council postponed its vote until next month’s meeting.

Dunn is a 20-year U.S. Army veteran who served as an intelligence analyst and a Russian linguist during his time in the military. He told the council during the interview that he views water quality, public safety and bringing revenue to Roy as his biggest concerns. He said he has experience in managing budgets, problem solving and researching.

The scope of the grant includes the design and construction of flashing beacons at the existing marked crosswalk across state Route 507 and a new sidewalk along Higgins Greig Road to improve the pedestrian movements across the highway and railroad tracks. The City also wishes to add a rectangular rapid flashing beacon crossing at the southern crosswalk adjacent to the Roy Chevron station across state Route 507 to Higgins Greig Road and provide a new cement concrete sidewalk westward, ending on the west side of the existing railway.
