Rainier Education Foundation (REF) awarded Rainier School District grant proposals to teachers totalling $13,000 for 2024.
Kyle Johnson, Rainier High School shop teacher, will use the grants to assemble the newly acquired metal lockers for his shop classes. RHS art teacher Kelli Garner will reduce clay waste and save students time for projects by purchasing a Peter Pugger pugmill.
Band teacher Adam Cornwall will broadcast student concerts to family members across the nation with new sound equipment. Rainier Elementary School kindergarten teacher Shanna Martin will outfit her classroom with specialized seating to help her young students focus. Rainier Middle School physical education Cale Halpin will purchase a variety of physical education equipment to inspire students to stay active during the school year.
In a press release, REF Vice President Del Hamilton said the foundation appreciates the opportunity to give back to the school district.
“Rainier Education Foundation has appreciated all the support and dedication our teachers provide to Rainier students and our mission,” she wrote.
REF will host the 25th annual Auction for Education at 5 p.m. March 29 at RHS. Information will be available on its website at rainiereducationfoundation.com.
