Police, fire departments deserve credit

Posted

Editor,

My purpose in writing is to wholeheartedly commend the police and fire department of Yelm.

Today I witnessed an RV struggling to move on Creek Street Southeast disgorging clouds of smoke and affecting several motorists behind him. Sirens were heard. The RV pulled into an empty parking lot.

The first police car parked a distance from the vehicle. The fire truck arrived, stopping a distance away, followed by a second police car. I do not think I exaggerate when I say that it was a dangerous situation.

An immediate situation report, followed by action was taken with hoses that subdued the clouds of potentially harmful gases. The fire personnel used a metal cutter even with billowing still occurring.

Observing these professionals turn a dicey event that concluded safely was remarkable.
