Thursday, July 18

•Yelm Timberland Library presents Creative Playtime at 10:30 a.m. at the library. Come to the library with your preschoolers and enjoy a morning of creative playtime. The library will provide activities and a cool place to enjoy them. This event is part of the Summer Library Program, a Timberland Regional Library district-wide program. Sponsored by the Friends of the Yelm Timberland Library.

•Yelm Timberland Library presents Art Fundamentals at noon and 1:30 p.m. at the library. Come explore a multitude of mixed media arts. All children ages 6 or 7 must be accompanied by an adult. Attendees are required to arrive 10 minutes before the program starts. Registration is required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Yelm Timberland Library.

•Chair Yoga for Relaxation is held at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Yelm Timberland Library. Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Come relax as Helen leads us through calming stretches and balance.

Come to the library to tweak, test, try out, create, build and program the library’s Ozobot robots, Snap Circuits and LEGO® collection and more. Sponsored by the Friends of the Yelm Timberland Library.

Wednesday, July 24

•Yelm Timberland Library presents Charles the Clown! at 11 a.m. at the library. Explore the universe of stories with magic tricks, puppetry, rhyming, humor, visual aids, audience participation and the adorable Biscuit The Dog Puppet. Sponsored by the Friends of the Yelm Timberland Library. 

•Yelm Timberland Library presents Couch Co-op: Overcooked at 3 p.m. at the library. Drop by to join a co-op session of Overcooked. Working as a team, you and your fellow chefs must prepare, cook and serve up a variety of tasty orders before the customers storm out.

•Yelm Jazz in the Park, 5-11 p.m. at Yelm City Park. Bring your family and friends, picnic basket and blankets, or maybe enjoy the food supplies offered on site. Regardless of what you bring with you, be prepared to be transported to a vacation state of mind.

Saturday, Aug. 3

•Friends of the Yelm Library presents the first Saturday of the month book sale from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. Prices range from 25 cents to $2 with specialty books being a little higher. These are bargains for your reading pleasure whether at home or on a vacation. The sale is in the downstairs lobby of the library and include the special “book room” that is only open on this day. Come, browse and delight your curiosity.

Saturday, Aug. 10.

•Restorative Yoga is held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cochran Park, near the second entrance. Restorative Yoga involves holding a reclining or sitting pose for 5 to 10 minutes to allow deep relaxation. Props are used to support the body. For example, a folded blanket or bolster on the legs will support the torso in a seated forward fold. Each participant needs to bring a mat, a yoga block, and a blanket. Additional blocks, blanket and bolsters will allow for deeper relaxation, but are not essential.

•Alice Walsh, reiki practitioner, will lead a reiki circle from 1-2 p.m. near the duck pond in Cochrane Park. This event is weather dependant and will be canceled in a heavy rain.

•Yelm Lions Club Movies in The Park presents “Coco,” at 8:45 p.m. at Longmire Park.

Sunday, Aug. 11

•The Rainier City Reunion will be held at noon in Wilkowski Park. Bring a favorite dish to share.

Saturday, Aug. 17

•The Yelm Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Prairie Aerie 4144, is having its 25th Silver Anniversary. It has been 25 years since the Eagles’ building has been built and the organization is having a pig roast to celebrate. Contact 360-458-4144 of 360-458-5374 for more information.

•Senior Center of Rainier has a casino trip planned that is leaving Rainier at 10:30 at the senior center, and return by 3 p.m. Lucky Eagle will supply transportation to and from, free of charge. Lucky Eagle also will give each person a $5 food coupon and a $10 gaming coupon. Participants need an ID. Seating is limited so seats early by calling George Johnson at 360-292-5363.
