Community Resource Fair

Love Abounds Here will host its monthly Community Resource Fair at the Yelm Community Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 30. Those who attend the event at 301 Second St. SE will be offered information on family support services, health care enrollment, addiction counseling, utility and energy assistance, and more. 

Food Bank

The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 30. Clients cannot enter the building and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.

Rainier Elementary Registration

The registration period for kindergartners for the 2023-24 school year at Rainier Elementary School is open. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2023. Parents and guardians can pre-register their future kindergartner online at www.rainier.wednet.edu/domain/60. Click on the registration link to fill in the form. Staff from the school’s office will contact parents to confirm interest in their elementary program and will review the registration process and paperwork. Saturday, April 1

Yelm Easter Egg Hunt

The Outpost Church and Yelm’s Parks and Recreation department will host its second annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 1. There will be 30,000 eggs people can collect at Yelm City Park. Kids who are 3 years old and under will hunt for their Easter eggs at 11 a.m., followed by kids who are 4 to 6 years old at 11:15 a.m. Kids between the ages of 7 and 10 will hunt for eggs at 11:30 a.m. The event is free to attend. 

Yelm Amateur Radio Group

The Yelm Amateur Radio Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1. The group is a nonprofit organization that provides testing for licensing related to radio, as well as an interest in amateur radio. The group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 Third St. SE, in Yelm. 

Sunday, April 2

Moose Lodge Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast

The Nisqually Valley Moose Lodge will host its Easter egg hunt and breakfast on Sunday, April 2. Breakfast lasts from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Children who are 12 and younger can eat for free, while the price for others is $7. The Easter egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. There will be free opportunities for photos with the Easter Bunny. The lodge is located at 1117 W. Yelm Ave. 

Tuesday, April 4

Agricultural Zoning Meeting



Thurston County officials will provide information and gather feedback on possible zoning changes that would protect land for current and future commercial agricultural use. The meeting will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, at the Yelm Community Center at 301 Second St. SE.

Saturday, April 8

American Legion  Easter Egg Drop

The Yelm American Legion will host its second annual community helicopter egg drop on Saturday, April 8 at its location at 16733 103rd Ave. S. in Yelm. Breakfast will be offered from 8 to 11 a.m. for a $7 donation. The rest of the Easter festivities will begin at 11 a.m. The event includes face painting, games, a petting zoo, different vendors and the highly anticipated helicopter egg drop.  

Easter Sale and Egg Hunt

Traveling Treasures will present its Easter sale and egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 at the Nisqually Valley Moose Lodge at 1117 W. Yelm Ave. Egg hunt times have been set for different age groups. Kids under the age of 2 can start egg hunting at 11 a.m. Ages 3-5 will follow at noon, ages 6-10 at 1 p.m., ages 11-5 at 2 p.m., and ages 16-18 at 3 p.m. 

We Love Rainier  Easter Egg Hunt

We Love Rainier WA will host its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 8 beginning at 2 p.m. The event will be held at Wilkowski Park. There are five different times set for different age groups. The first group, ages 0-4, will begin their hunt at 2:10 p.m. Ages 5-7 will begin their hunt at 2:30 p.m., while ages 8-11 will hunt for Easter eggs at 2:50 p.m. Ages 12-17 can hunt for their Easter eggs at 3:10 p.m., while adults (18 years old and over) can participate at 3:30 p.m. The event is free.

Prairie Point  Quilters Guild Meeting

The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Friday, April 14

Family Game Night

The Yelm Parks and Recreation department will host a family game night from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, April 14 at the Yelm Community Center at 301 Second St. SE. The event will feature board games, interactive games and yard-style games. People are also encouraged to bring their own games as long as they are appropriate. The event is free to attend. Dinner will be available for purchase from a food vendor onsite. Kids under 16 need to have a guardian present. 

Friday, April 28

South Sound Mounted Shooters Competition

The South Sound Mounted Shooters will host a three-day competition at the T90 Ranch in Tenino at 4 p.m. on April 28, 10 a.m. on April 29, and 9:30 a.m. on April 30. Admission is free. The event will also feature over 30 local craft vendors as well as food trucks. T90 Ranch is located at 16641 Old Highway 99 SE in Tenino.
