Senior Lunches
The Yelm Adult Community Center will hold its weekly lunches at 11:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Senior Services for the South Sound operates the Senior Nutrition Program, using the Yelm Senior Center’s commercial kitchen and dining room, at 16530 103rd Ave. S.E. in Yelm. Their staff prepares lunches for the Yelm, Tenino and Rochester senior centers and Meals on Wheels for homebound seniors in the area.
Food Bank
The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. N.W. in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 10. Clients cannot enter the building, and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.
Rainier Elementary Pre-Registration
Rainier Elementary School opened up pre-registration for the 2022-2023 school year for incoming kindergartners. In order to qualify for enrollment, your child must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2022, which is also the final day for registration. Pre-registration can be accessed at www.rainier.wednet.edu/domain/60.
Friday, March 11
Storytime
The Yelm Timberland Library will hold its virtual Zoom Family Storytime at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11. Join the library’s expert storytime providers and other families live on Zoom every Friday for songs, music, movement, books and activities for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Register online at events.trl.org/events/month by clicking the event to receive the Zoom link and to get weekly email reminders. Be aware that each individual storytime has a unique Zoom link. When you’re signing in for storytime, make sure you are clicking on the Zoom link for the correct date and time.

COVID-19 Testing
Bi-weekly COVID-19 testing will be available at the Yelm Community Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, March 14. The testing is for symptomatic patients or close contacts. The Yelm Community Center is located at 301 Second St. S.E.
Tuesday, March 15
Ceremonial First Pitch
Yelm High School’s baseball team will open up its season on Tuesday, March 15 with a matchup against the Timberline Blazers. The first pitch is at 4 p.m., but prior to the game there will be a ceremonial first pitch to celebrate the new turf baseball field at YHS.
Historical Church Open House
The city of Rainier will host a ribbon-cutting and open house event at the Rainier Historical Zion Church at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. The church is located at 207 Olympia St. W., in Rainier.
Wednesday, March 16
Paint and Sip at Bertoglio’s
Bertoglio’s Pizza will host a “Paint and Sip” event beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16. People of all ages are welcome to join local Artvana Artist and all supplies will be included. Bertoglio’s menu will also be available a la carte. Bertoglio’s is located at 704 W. Yelm Ave.
Friday, March 18
Ceremonial First Pitch
Yelm High School’s softball team will open its season on Friday, March 18 with a game against North Thurston High School at 4 p.m. Prior to the game, there will be a ceremonial first pitch, to celebrate the new turf fastpitch field.
Saturday, March 19
Yelm Amateur Radio Group
The Yelm Amateur Radio Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19. The group is a non-profit organization that provides testing for licensing related to radio, as well as an interest in amateur radio. The group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 Third St. S.E., in Yelm.

Ribbon-Cutting
The Yelm Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate Get Fit Yelm’s new ownership at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21. It will be held at the gym located at 103 93rd Ave. S.E. in Yelm.
Saturday, March 26
Pop Up Vendor Event
Pop-Up Vendors Galore will host a “Back to the ‘80s” Vendor Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Yelm Nisqually Moose Lodge on Saturday, March 26. The lodge is located at 1117 W. Yelm Ave. in Yelm.
Monday, March 28
