The Rainier girls basketball team only surrendered points in two of the four quarters it played against Onalaska on Wednesday, rolling the Loggers 55-11 in a decisive Central 2B League win.
The Mountaineers were without sophomore Angelica Askey, but that mattered little. Haleigh Hanson led the hosts with 16 points, and Bryn Beckman added 15, 13 of which came in a first quarter that Rainier won 15-0.
Janess Blackburn added nine points for the Mountaineers.
“The girls stepped up and played a sound defensive game, rebounded the ball well, and did a great job finding each other on the offensive end,” Rainier coach Brandon Eygabroad said.
After going into halftime up 30-5, Rainier finished the game on a 25-6 run, outscoring its guests 20-0 in the final period.
Kaiyah Sandridge had four points for Onalaska, and was the only Logger to make multiple shots.
Rainier (5-1, 2-1 C2BL) will play at Toledo on Friday, and Onalaska (0-4, 0-3 C2BL) will host Morton-White Pass.
