The Rainier volleyball team gave the crowd its money’s worth Tuesday, playing five tight sets to beat Toutle Lake 21-25, 27-25, 27-25, 19-25, 15-12 in a non-league contest.
Acacia Murphy led the offense with 17 kills, and Allyson Ooms pitched in 12. Katelyn Eckroth dished out 15 assists.
On defense, Olivia Earsley had 23 digs, while Brooklynn Swenson and Lilly Johnson both served 100% for the Mountaineers (5-2).
Though Tuesday’s match was technically a non-league contest, Rainier will get a higher-stakes rematch with the Ducks on Thursday, when it goes to Cowlitz County to open Central 2B League play.
