As a lifelong Yelm resident, I’m proud to support Jerry Toompas for port commissioner. For too long, the port has collected millions in property taxes from rural cities like Yelm and given almost nothing back. The money goes to projects in Olympia that lose money year after year, while our communities keep footing the bill.
Jerry Toompas wants to change that. He’s a community leader who believes the port belongs to the people, not corporations or developers. He is the only candidate or commissioner that lives in Yelm, and he wants to represent the rural areas.
