Leprechauns At The Lot raising money for 4-H kids

The Yelm Nerd Herd 4-H will host the “Leprechauns at the Lot” fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16, at Yelm Tractor Supply.

There will be a petting zoo, bake sale, 4-H swag for sale and face painting. The money earned at this event will help 4-H kids have a successful fair season.

“This fundraiser helps our 4-H club with the funds necessary for entering the fair, participating in showmanship, purchasing club shirts and will cover a new poultry-testing fee per bird this year,” Yelm Nerd Herd Club Reporter Landon Ward said. “The Thurston County Fair takes place in Lacey on July 31 through Aug. 4. We are a newer club. This is our second year, and we are working hard to establish ourselves in Thurston County 4-H.”

The baked goods at the event will be assorted and from members of the club’s baking project. The types of animals at the petting zoo will also be assorted.

“We will have goats, chickens, rabbits and maybe more to come,” Ward said.

The Yelm Nerd Herd 4-H Club has been planning this event for weeks and has been meeting to set things up. Tina, the manager at Yelm Tractor Supply, had suggested to the club that she really wanted to promote and partner with the local 4-H club.

“We really appreciate her help and our community’s  support,” Ward said.

The event is completely free to attend. People can donate by purchasing face painting, youth photography items, baked goods and making monetary donations in person with cash or check.
