The Rainier football team had to dip down to 8-man for the week due to low numbers on the other sideline, but that only sped the Mountaineers up in an 82-52 win over Ocosta in SWW 2B West play.
The final stats were as garish as the final score would suggest for the Mountaineers (4-2, 2-0 C2B West). Jake Meldrum finished his night 17 for 21 for 543 yards and eight touchdowns, and also ran in a score.
Two of those passing touchdowns went to Josh Meldrum, who took five catches for a team-high 197 yards, averaging just a shade under 40 yards per reception.
Hunter Howell finished with six catches for 172 yards and three touchdowns, and also ran for 24 yards and a score, while Jared Sprouffske had 122 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Chris Gray finished over 100 total yards as well, with 87 on the ground and 52 receiving yards.
Rainier will head to Toutle Lake next Friday for another league matchup.
