George Frederick Fossett: 1929-2021

George Frederick Fossett was born in Lewis County on Jan. 19, 1929, to Chalmer and Nancy Fossett. He passed away May 4, 2021, at Canterbury Memorial Gardens Care Center in Longview, Wash.
George is survived by his wife of 36 years, Charlotte Janke-Fossett; brother, Mike (Jean) Fossett of Olympia, Wash.; and his sister, Betty Katyryniuk of Chehalis, Wash.
He leaves behind his sons, George Fossett and Bob Gretter, Mike Fossett and Micah Uchiyama, Bill and Louisa Fossett of California, Tim and Christine Fossett of Chehalis, Robert and Amy Fossett of Olympia, Wash.; and stepdaughters, Jenny and Eric Owen of Winlock and Julie Janke Reyes of California. George had a long life and was blessed with 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
George grew up in Cinebar, Wash., and in his early years, enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, as a mechanic in the Fighting 59th anti-aircraft artillery unit. After the Army, he became a logger and worked for a few different companies, retiring from that career with over 25 years. His next job was as a warehouseman at the I.P. Callisons mint plant in Chehalis, where he finally retired at 62.
He enjoyed many things such as hunting, fishing, and raising livestock, but his main interests were farming and working on the land. George was a hard worker and always helped others when needed. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Cattermole Funeral Home
