Easthaven Villa Assisted Living presents Joysong Victorian Carolers

Posted

The Joysong Victorian Carolers will provide musical enjoyment alike by sharing their vocal talents with a selection of traditional Christmas songs in an upcoming presentation at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Easthaven Villa, 311 Cullens St. NW in Yelm. According to a press release, the group has been singing together each December since its inception in 1986. Joysong has visited the State Capitol Rotunda, area church events, assisted living communities and many other venues frequently. Additionally, Joysong has sung at the tree-lighting ceremony at Leavenworth, performed in Chelan, and delighted audiences in Port Townsend. These singers entertain at senior living facilities in Seattle before traveling south to Centralia and Chehalis.

Their repertoire of traditional sacred Christmas carols and songs are all sung a capella in three-part and four-part harmony. According to the press release, the singers of Joysong have a mission to honor the season through music that has come down through the centuries. These women feel strongly that this beautiful music must not be forgotten but needs to be heard and enjoyed every Christmas season, the release stated. Musical selections are from a variety of countries and cultures.

As a non-profit organization, Joysong does not charge for performances but does accept donations to help with expenses.

Several CD recordings have been produced by the carolers over the years and will be available at the Easthaven performance. Their DVD is also available for a donation of any amount, as are the CD recordings.

While the performance for the public is free, RSVPs are appreciated to ensure sufficient seating and refreshments are available. Call 360-458-2800 or 360-485-4070 for more information or to RSVP.
