Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland, D-Washington, announced her “constituent spotlight” last week as she recognized Kahne Loftus, a 17-year-old teen from Rainier.

Loftus was recognized for his “Kahne’s Kare Packages” project, which sends care packages to U.S. troops overseas.

“Kahne is an exemplary young person who has shown respect and pride in our nation,” Strickland stated in a news release. “He knows that those serving overseas deserve support and care from us all. I am proud to recognize him and his incredible work in my first constituent spotlight.”

Loftus said it is an honor to be recognized by the congresswoman.

“Kahne’s Kare Packages has grown over the years and I remain committed to supporting our troops,” Loftus stated in the release.

Throughout the year, Kahne raises money and hosts fundraisers where he sells his own handmade items. All of the proceeds go toward care packages for U.S. troops who are overseas. In 2022, Loftus shipped 108 care packages.

Loftus is a junior in high school and works part-time for Kimball’s Ranch in Rainier.

As a part of this spotlight, Congresswoman Strickland will recognize Loftus in the Congressional Record.

Congresswoman Strickland’s constituent spotlight program recognizes exemplary South Sound residents. To nominate a resident of Washington’s 10th Congressional District, fill out the nomination form online at strickland.house.gov/constituent-of-the-month.
