Join The Reptile Lady at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Yelm City Park, as April Jackson presents an interactive program for community members to enjoy. Included in the presentation will be snakes, alligators and lizards. All ages are welcome.

Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally
The Yelm Chamber of Commerce will host the seventh annual Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at Yelm City Park. Join the chamber and numerous local vendors and food trucks for a day of good eats, family fun and community camaraderie.
Movies in the Park: The Princess Bride
The annual Yelm Lions Club tradition of Movies in the Park will return to Longmire Park this summer, with its third rendition set to begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. The movie being shown that evening will be The Princess Bride. The event is free, and the movie itself will begin at dusk.
Saturday, Aug. 1
Crazy Foam Party
Following the massive success of the City of Yelm’s Crazy Foam Party at Prairie Days in June, the city and Yelm’s Timberland Regional Library will host another Crazy Foam Party event from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Yelm City Park. The event is free, and participants are asked to bring their own towels.
Friday, Aug. 7
Ninth annual Jazz in the Park
The ninth annual Yelm Jazz in the Park is set for 5 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8, at Yelm City Park. Admission to the event is free. There will be several live jazz bands performing on the City of Yelm’s Centennial Stage throughout the evening too. Additionally, several food vendors will be on site — as well as a beer and wine garden.

Movies in the Park: Ratatouille
The annual Yelm Lions Club tradition of Movies in the Park will return to Longmire Park this summer, with its fourth rendition set to begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. The movie being shown that evening will be Ratatouille. The event is free, and the movie itself will begin at dusk.
Saturday, Aug. 22
Scouting America Troop 9268 turns 100
Join Scouting America Troop 9268 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Yelm City Park and Yelm Community Center for a full day of celebration. According to Scouting America Troop 9268 Scoutmaster Jeff Kasnick, cake will be cut and handed out to attendees, along with a proclamation from Mayor Joe DePinto in celebration of the troop. Additionally, other local Scouting America troops have been invited to “share in the brotherhood of scouting” during the celebration next month.
