What started out as an idea to bring something new to Yelm — standup comedy — quickly turned into an annual tradition, as renowned comedian and television host Zane Lamprey will return to the 507 Taproom on Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18, for the third consecutive year in a row.
Lamprey, 53, of Syracuse, New York, has been involved in the world of television since the earliest stages of his career, when he worked on several projects for Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and VH1. Additionally, he was a cast member on MTV’s Damage Control and was the host of VH1’s reality show, Motormouth.
Additionally, Lamprey is most known for his work as host of Three Sheets, which was featured on MOJO HD from 2006 to 2008, on the Fine Living channel in 2009 and on the Travel Channel in 2010. He’s also hosted Food Network shows Have Fork and Will Travel.
He performed at the 507 Taproom on April 20 and April 21 in 2024, and on April 5 and April 6 in 2025.
“We’re excited to have him out next month,” Bill DeVore, owner of the 507 Taproom, told the Nisqually Valley News. “He’ll be doing two shows for us. We’re the only venue where he does two shows. This will be his third year performing at the taproom. The only difference is this year, he’ll actually stay at the hotel for three days. He’ll have a new opening act. He’ll have a new skit that he does. Everything will be new to the people that have seen him in the past.”
DeVore added that Lamprey is one of his favorites in comedy. Additionally, the comedian has always left a strong impression on the owner and the establishment through his professionalism and personable attitude.
“We really appreciate Zane coming in. He’s obviously someone you can watch on Prime, Netflix or on a YouTube channel. He’s very personable when he comes in. He remembers people’s names. He gives people handshakes and hugs,” DeVore said. “He’s had Three Sheets as a TV show, Drinking Made Easy, Chug, and he’s actually re-airing Three Sheets right now because it’s a 20-year anniversary for the show. That’s something he’s doing on a YouTube Channel. I appreciate that he’s a good person. Every time he comes in, he’s a professional and treats everyone very well.”
According to DeVore, the entire premise of bringing the 507 Taproom to Yelm was to “do something different” for the area. By bringing in comedic acts like Lamprey, different events like Brew Festival, or live musicians into his business, he’s done just that — provide Yelm residents with something different to do.
