Christmas in the Park Parade Canceled

Posted

The Christmas in the Park parade has been canceled this year due to lack of interest from potential participants.

The Christmas in the Park Facebook page posted an update detailing the change in festivities for the event.

“In a joint decision between the Yelm Christmas in the Park Committee, the Yelm Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Yelm Police Department, we are sad to announce that the 2021 Christmas parade has been canceled for Dec. 11, 2021,” stated the post. “This is due to limited registration for the parade.”

The post said the rest of the festivities planned for the day are still scheduled to happen.

“Head over to Yelm City Park on Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. for a fun-filled day of free, family fun Christmas in the Park activities until 3 p.m.,” stated the post.

The Winter Wonderland Market will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Yelm Community Center at 301 Second St. S.E. in Yelm, with a visit from Santa Claus scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Follow the Yelm Christmas in the Park Facebook page for contest and event updates.

“Don’t forget to grab selfies at local selfie spots throughout December and post them to win gift cards to local favorites,” the post stated.
