The Tenino boys soccer team started out its 1A Evergreen contest against Elma on the front foot, but gave up two goals in quick succession before ultimately losing 4-0 on the Black Top.
“It was a good start, and then they got some momentum off that first goal for sure,” Tenino coach Trevor Fetbrandt said.
The Eagles took the lead in the 16th minute, then immediately came back to make it 2-0 in the 19th. Another goal in the 29th made the deficit three goals before halftime, and Elma added a fourth early in the second half.
Brock Maurer made 11 saves on 15 shots for the Beavers, while Tenino managed just three shots of its own.
Tenino is set to play Raymond in South Bend on Friday.
