Rainier Swept by Morton-White Pass at Home Tuesday

RAINIER — Following a sweep at the hands of Stevenson on the road, Morton/White Pass ventured out on the road once again, but handed Rainier a sweep in a victory (25-22, 27-25, 25-23) Tuesday night.

It was an all-around effort in the Timberwolves (1-1) win over the Mountaineers (2-2), with Chloe Kelly leading the way and dishing out 16 assists and registering nine kills. McKenzee Mays dished out nine assists of her own, and Emarey Hampton and Shelby Karns earned eight and six kills, respectively.

But more importantly, whenever Rainier threatened with a run, MWP always had an answer.

We’ve really been focused on playing consistently and not having a lot of ups and downs,” MWP coach Tammy Kelly said. “We’re super athletic but we’re not super experienced so we’re just trying to get everything flowing every game without it being this up and down ride every night.”

Returning three starters from a year ago, the Timberwolves played an incredibly clean game, maximizing on the Mountaineers mistakes, and only missing on two serves all night.

“It’s good, it gives the girls a little more confidence as we go,” Kelly said of the win. “It gives us things to work on but also some confidence with a win tonight.”
