One of the community pillars in the Nisqually Valley region, the Crossroads Community Covenant Church, is continuing to give back to local students in a big way.
The Yelm-based church, located 11520 Bald Hill Road SE, near Four Corners, is hosting its 13th annual pumpkin patch. The patch is open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Proceeds from the annual Crossroads pumpkin patch benefit Yelm and Rainier high school students each year, as funds are donated to Yelm Dollars for Scholars and the Rainier Education Foundation. Jaimie Sevier, Yelm Dollars for Scholars organizer, said the pumpkin patch contributed over $10,000 in scholarships to 97 different Yelm graduates.
The church is also supporting local farms as its fall produce, including pumpkins, gourds and decorative corn stalks, are each grown locally at McKenna’s Nisqually Springs Farm. The pumpkin patch also features a string maze, a scavenger hunt with prizes, photo opportunities and free refreshments on the weekends.
The pumpkin patch will conclude with a Trunk-or-Treat celebration from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31.
“So bring the kids and have a great time while helping our local graduates further their education,” Sevier wrote in a Yelm Dollars for Scholars media release.
