Yelm Jesus Name Pentecostal Church is allowing a community school supply drive 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24 at the church, 204 Jefferson Ave. NW.

The goal is to give school supplies to children and families in need of held and/or aid, according to Colton Wark, youth director.

Supplies will include nearly all stationary items and backpacks.

The church hopes to successfully help 50 children this year, Work said.

During the event there will be food and drinks as well as bounce houses.

“In these seven years of helping young kids and young adults to become balanced and driven adults,” Wark said. “I have seen the deficit between helping hands and the growing number of children without guidance or help.”

“I look to encourage the community and individual families to reach children in need of necessary tools to excel academically and throughout life.”

Last year, the program helped nearly 40 children.

“We are looking to grow this venture into helping more and more children each year,” Wark said.
