The name Jani Morrish is synonymous with many things: compassion, devotion, and love. However, Morrish can’t be simplified to certain labels. She is known in the community as many things. Some know her as the manager of Prairie Soccer Club, others know her as a volunteer at McKenna Elementary, and even more know her as an overall caring person.
Morrish has been a part of the Yelm community for many years. She has been married to Chet Morrish, a Yelm native, for over 20 years. They are parents to three daughters, Mali, Bailey, and Annie. The Morrish family can often be found volunteering their time to the Yelm community.
They are involved in the Yelm Lutheran Church, helping to organize events for the church such as Vacation Bible School. She is a board member for the McKenna Elementary PTA and is often a leader in creating events for the school.
The Morrish family are avid volunteers in the Yelm Prairie Soccer Club as well. Jani Morrish is the manager for the club and both have volunteered their time as coaches for over a decade. “Overall, the Morrish family is constantly volunteering their time and effort to make our community a better place,” as stated in a release to the Nisqually Valley News, which adds not it is time to give back to the Morrish family.
On Dec. 28, 2017, Jani Morrish was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Pancreatic cancer affects over 200,000 people per year in the U.S. alone. During this tough time, many people have come together to help out the Morrish family.
The PSC Wolverines have come together to organize a benefit in Jani Morrish’s honor. On Feb. 9, the banquet will be held from 6-8 p.m. The benefit will be hosted at Puget Sound Entertainment Center, 103 93rd Ave. SE, Yelm. The event will include a potato bar for $5, a silent auction, a live auction, T-shirts for sale and many opportunities to donate.
