Yelm bested the Timberline Blazers 35-30 Thursday night without a single completed pass, securing a Week Nine win for the South Sound Conference runner-ups at Fouts Field.

Yelm senior Bradley McGannon led Yelm with three touchdowns. Senior running back Carson Amendt rushed for 130 yards on 26 carries. The Tornados tallied 255 total offensive yards.

With Timberline leading 17-14 with 30 seconds left in the first half, Yelm senior cornerback Eli Osso picked off a pass from Timberline quarterback Adam Dafoe and brought it back for a 60-yard return. Yelm took the lead, 21-17, and held on late to cap off regular season play with a win.

Yelm Head Coach Jason Ronquillo said he was proud of how his boys matched up against Timberline, especially as they secured several first downs and maintained momentum through the end of the second half.

The Tornados end regular season play with a 6-1 record in the South Sound Conference and a 6-3 record overall. The Blazers end their season 3-4 in the league.

Yelm will face the loser of Friday’s Edmonds-Woodway and Squalicum game in the first round of the 3A playoffs.
