K9 Assists in Yelm Drug Stop

On April 12th, Tumwater Police K-9 Officer Mize and K-9 “James” assisted officers with the Yelm Police Department with a narcotics investigation. K-9 “James” conducted a free-air sniff of a vehicle the Yelm officers had stopped and were investigating for possession of narcotics. K-9 “James” alerted on the vehicle and the Yelm officer applied for and was granted a search warrant. Approximately 5 pounds of Methamphetamine, paraphernalia and a stolen firearm were recovered from the vehicle, as well as another unknown substance suspected to be either cocaine or fentanyl. One of the vehicle’s occupants was arrested for a felony warrant and also booked for Possession of a Controlled Substance with the intent to distribute and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
